Fully functioning commercial kitchen on wheels

Transforming a 5 tonne Fiat into a fully functioning commercial kitchen on wheels

Our client’s culinary background shone through as we designed this unit. With no expense spared on the exceptional fit out, this unit is a chef’s dream.

What we were asked to do

We were tasked with transforming this 5 tonne Fiat into a fully functioning commercial kitchen on wheels.

Top priorities were a mobile unit that could be driven on a standard 7.5 tonne driving license. Self sufficiency was key as our client wanted to serve the TV and film industry and also have the option to cater at festivals and large events. The equipment list is extensive, and enough to make any chef salivate, keep reading to learn more.

How we helped

We’ve designed and built a self-sufficient unit. It has onboard fresh water and gas. Power is supplied either by hook-up or a generator – an essential option, as this unit needed to operate at festivals and events.

Extensive fridge and freezer space means the unit can serve high volumes of meals over a longer period before restocking. The appliances we fitted maximise the storage space as equipment footprint is at a premium in this unit.

The specialist combi oven provides exceptional versatility with a wide range of modes and cooking styles from steaming to convection. Built for high volume food service, this choice is a chef’s dream.

In addition we installed a Bratt Pan for soups, pasta and more. The more typical 6-burner gas range and fryers complete the hot food preparation equipment.

A large Bain Marie set up at the serving point allowed our client to prepare larger volumes of food in advance for faster service.

To complete the unit, there is a pot wash facility to meet all health and safety requirements.

The results

This unit is exceptional with no expense spared on the equipment and fit-out. It will serve our client and his hungry customers for years to come. A truly flexible unit capable of serving a high volume and wide range of food from just about any location. All of this, carefully crafted into a 5 tonne Ducato.
