Linda McCartney Merchandising Counters
Can you give us a smaller unit and keep the output the same? Another challenge from Linda McCartney Merchandising and Covent Garden Soup
Can project briefs get much tougher?
After the success of one our most challenging projects, with multiple aspects to a tough brief, we were asked back by our client and their agency to look at yet another demanding angle for the next stage of their promotions.
The challenge was to produce a unit that would go to places where the last unit we built for them wouldn’t go. So that would be a smaller unit. But the output had to stay the same.
Over to the design team.
What we were asked to do
The client wanted a way that they could attend more events and indoor functions where the previous (largish) vehicle was too big to go. This system had to be manoeuvred by a maximum of two people with no requirement for specialist moving equipment and be able to produce a similar output as the original vehicle design.
It had to be robust, it was for multiple events that would include Countryfile Live, inside train stations, Nomad Cinema Festival in London and it was even been used for their live video cooking demonstrations.
The branding had to be totally interchangeable, between Linda McCartney and Covent Garden Soup and between different products within the ranges. And that had to be changed by the team on site, so it had to be simple.
Hmmm.
What we came up with
The team designed and built a modular designed service counter which gave our end user a 3m x 3m service outlet with 360° capacity for serving and contact with their client. These merchandising counters then allowed them to give away their food.
These counters can be re-branded to represent other products within less than 5 minutes using magnetic printed media to give the end user complete flexibility.
The system could be broken down into four individual pieces that would be transported in the back of a Luton style box van. All of these pieces were on wheels which were hidden from the public view, making movement and transportation a doddle.
Within the four serving counters, the team managed to install the following kit, which was all secured in place to keep everyone safe during use and transit, and kept it user friendly so it could be removed for easy cleaning:
We even provided fleece lined padded covers for transportation. The team even made a collapsible roof that folded away into a neat bag yet when installed onto the merchandising counters. It allowed the whole unit to be used in an external environment and protected their staff and products from the wind and rain. Finally we supplied a flooring system which could be installed and levelled to protect the team from rough ground.
The result
It worked like a dream. The team found the “stand” easy to use. They hit the output targets. The switch of branding worked. We can’t take credit for the popularity for all these years of the Linda McCartney products. Well we could, but we know it definitely helped, that was the feedback we got.
